Curcumin, derived from turmeric, has been shown to down-regulate inflammatory mediators. That means it may help to reduce joint inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

As well as its anti-inflammatory effects, curcumin has been shown to have strong antioxidant effects, which has benefits for our cardiovascular health and the health of our liver and digestive systems. Turmeric powder will usually contain about 5% curcumin, and it is poorly absorbed by the body due to its low solubility and poor systemic absorption. This means that very little curcumin from natural sources will actually make it into the bloodstream, limiting its ability to produce a therapeutic effect.

We now have specially formulated forms of curcumin which are able to greatly increase the bioavailability of curcumin. This means that the amount of curcumin reaching the bloodstream is increased significantly, and as a result this can greatly improve the therapeutic effect of curcumin to help reduce inflammation.
